Antonio Castro is a commercial trial lawyer with
more than 15 years of courtroom experience. His
main practice area is civil litigation,
emphasizing complex commercial litigation and
arbitration. Mr. Castro has extensive
experience in counseling and representing
multinational corporations, as well as
individuals and local companies, in resolving
all types of business disputes. Mr. Castro’s
experience includes representing a multinational
corporation in products liability disputes, a
foreign television corporation in trademark
infringement litigation arising out of the
alleged breach of a management contract, a
commercial contractor in construction
arbitration, a trust beneficiary in securities
arbitration, physicians in actions for breach of
employment contract and violation of non-compete
agreements, and beneficiaries in will and trust
disputes. Mr. Castro has also handled numerous
matters relating to forum non conveniens.
Mr. Castro is fluent in Spanish and has handled
litigation matters involving various foreign
jurisdictions in Central and South America, as
well as the Caribbean. Mr. Castro is AV rated
by Martindale-Hubbell®—indicating the highest
level of legal ability and ethics—and has been
recognized by Florida Trend magazine as one of
the State’s Legal Leaders in the area of
commercial litigation.
Mr. Castro attended Columbia College and
Georgetown University Law Center. After law
school, Mr. Castro served as an Assistant State
Attorney in Miami-Dade County, where he tried
over 40 jury cases and was selected to teach
litigation skills to junior prosecutors.
Following his government service, Mr. Castro
entered private practice in 1996 and has
represented plaintiffs and defendants alike
in
trials, arbitrations, and appeals. Prior to
joining Rivero Mestre & Castro, Mr. Castro was
litigation counsel
with the
national law firm of Boies, Schiller & Flexner.
Beyond the practice of law, Mr. Castro remains
active in bar activities, both with voluntary
bar associations and with the Florida Bar. He
has served as the President of the Cuban
American Bar Association and is a Director of
the League of Prosecutors. Currently, Mr.
Castro serves on the Florida Bar’s Civil
Procedure Rules Committee, and on the Ad Hoc
Advisory Committee on Rules and Procedures for
the U.S. District Court for the Southern
District of Florida. He also serves as a member
of the Florida Bar Grievance Committee.
